Survey analysis the consequences of the Russian Federation entry to the World Trade Organization (WTO) | 30-03-2012
The project was implemented for Ernst & Young.

Project Dates: February 2012

The project addressed the following objectives:
  • the analysis of the WTO basic principles and mechanisms, obligations and rights of its members;

  • to examine the implications of WTO accession of China and one of the countries of Eastern Europe;

  • the analysis of the measures taken by Russia in the preparation to the WTO accession;

  • the systematization of the basic obligations of Russia, adopted in the framework of negotiations with WTO member countries;

  • interviews conducted with experts on the assessment of customs and tariff changes due to Russia’s WTO accession;

  • the impact of assessments of WTO accession for Russia’s economic development in general, both positive and negative was constructed by sectors and regions of the country;

  • general recommendations designed to enhance the positive effect on Russia’s WTO accession and to mitigate its adverse effects on the economy as a whole, by industry and region were given.
