What does the regional economic growth depend on? As well as the obvious factors such as the geographical location, urban-rural differences and availability of natural resourses the regional development is affected by its relations with the federal authorities and the local business, readiness to implement the reforms and support the new growth sources.

CEFIR did several researches of an applied character for the Ministry of Finance, Administration of Tver and Sakhalin regions and Taymir autonomous region with the following subjects:

  • Determinants of economic growth and development of Russia’s regions
  • Improving the monitoring system of subnational finance
  • Extension of the institutional and analytical possibilities of the RF Ministry of Finance in the field of regional policy
  • Sustaining and further improving the mechanism of the Foundation for Regional Finance Reforming
  • Improving the system of financial support for Russian regions through the federal budget.
