Start Date: 2002
Completion Date: 2005

Project Summary:

Monitoring projects carried out within the area of Administrative Reform evaluate results of the deregulation reform started by the federal government in 2001. The reform aims to simplify administrative procedures and reduce firms' costs of inspections, lincensing, certification and registration.

The results of the first four rounds allow one to compare administrative costs before the reform start and after the implementation of laws on inspections, registration and licensing and thereby to see whether there have been any improvements in the business climate for small firms.

The Monitoring projects are carried out in collaboration with the World Bank and with the financial support of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Certain parts of the study were prepared with the financial support of Foreign Investment Advisory Service, a joint facility of the International Finance Corporation and the World Bank.
