The development and implementation of complex economic and mathematical models to analyse and to predict interactions between activity of Russian Railways Company and the development of Russian economy, its industries and regions | 07-08-2012
The project was implemented for the Center for Strategic Research (CSR).

Project Dates: May — June 2012

The goal of the project was to develop a methodology and a quantitative assessment of the effects of development inside of the Russian railway traffic and its influence to the socio — economic development of Russian regions.

The main objectives implemented were:
  • To develop a methodology of assessing economic losses from the possible limits on the amount of interregional rail freight;

  • To develop a methodology of assessing the relationship between the intensity of passenger traffic and the level of socio-economic development of regions;

  • To review the international experience on the impact of investment in infrastructure of suburban passenger traffic;

  • To review the global practices to application of general equilibrium models for evaluating infrastructure projects in rail transport;

  • To implement the simulation scenarios for Russia’s development models up to 2030, based on general equilibrium models;

  • To develop recommendations of using this model for the construction of numeral assessments of the impact of interregional rail traffic to the socio-economic development of regions.
