Comprehensive assessment of the potential and prospects of EAEU member states participation in global value chains, as well as necessary system changes in the customs and tariff policy aimed at facilitating the incorporation of EAEU members in such chain | 21-10-2015
Project Dates: August 2015 — November 2015

The project is implemented for the Russian Academy of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation for the Eurasian Economic Commission.

Project Goal:

The main goal of the project is to provide arguments supporting system changes in the Eurasian Economic Union trade policy including customs and tariff policy aimed at the implementation of the existing potential of competitive insertion of branches, sub-sectors and industries of the EAEU member states in the global value chains in order to improve their competitiveness and increase exports.

Project Objectives:

To achieve this goal the following tasks should be resolved:
  • holding quantitative analysis and expertise to identify promising industry sectors and specific industries of the EAEU member states with the greatest export potential and cooperation potential in view of opportunities of being embedded in global value chains.

  • Assessing dependence of identified promising sectors and specific industries of the EAEU member states economies on imported components as well as developing mechanisms to enhance cooperation with foreign partners.

  • Developing measures of customs and tariff policy aimed at improving the effectiveness of the EAEU member states participation in global value chains in the context of the identified sectoral priorities and the specific chains of such participation.
